Stokes School students have a growth mindset! Students were recognized in January for showing the most growth on their middle of the year benchmarks. Students discuss their results with their teachers and many of them track their own data and set personal academic goals. They are practicing Habits 1, 2 and 3!
Teachers picked the following students from their classes for January's Eagles of the Month. Taylor Klugh, Brianna May, Cierra Major, Brandon Warren, Ashanti Wilson, Samantha Lisk, Alanah Eason, Adan Trejo, Luke Townsend, Kevin Cruz, Nyasia Davis, Chase Crandell, Harley Steiner, Mariana Vargas
Seventh grade Math students used math vocabulary, equations and problems to design a "Figure Me Out" board. Students had to complete the problems in order to learn new information about their classmates.
Third grade students used thinking maps to brainstorm the qualities of a leader. These are the qualities that each student in third grade agreed to display this year.

Students in 4th, 6th, and 8th grade at Stokes School have been learning about rocks and minerals. To apply their knowledge, students participated in a gem mining activity provided by Diamond Del's Gem Mining Adventure where they mined for real minerals using mining ore and water flumes. After mining for minerals they used an identification chart to identify the different minerals they discovered. Students were able to take with them the collection of minerals that they discovered. This was definitely a fun learning experience for the students!
5th grade students at Stokes School recently participated in a D.A.R.E. graduation, and enjoyed hearing from special guest speaker, Willie Joyner. Glenn Stork won the essay contest.
